OUR STORY

We were sat with friends. Enjoying each other’s company and dreaming big. One of us, at some point, said you know what Newark needs; it needs a wine bar. We joked that our friends should set one up…they didn’t. But we did.

We own successful businesses as well as Not My Monkey and regularly collaborate with our community. After chatting with local people, we realised we needed to introduce a slice of city life to our sleepy town and develop a socialising space that was not only unique but inclusive of all.

From music to menus, we’ve got what you need to unwind, so swing by. Everyone’s welcome.

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

Not My Monkey got its name from the phrase – not my circus, not my monkey. Which means it’s not my drama; I’m not getting involved. And that’s one of the reasons why we established our coffee house and wine bar.

We wanted to create a small, intimate, welcoming space that people could use to unwind and shake off the drama with a good glass of wine or coffee.

EVENTS

A UNIQUE BUSINESS COLLABORATION

We share our venue with an independent creative salon – Inizio, and they practice the art of exceptional customer service – something we aspire to do too.

Small independents understand that focusing on their product’s finer detail and quality is what sets them apart from the crowd. Again, we concentrate on this too, but we also look for it in our suppliers. From coffee to cake, we work with small businesses that pay attention to the little things that make a big difference.
